Picking up Pots Late in Position
Late in position, it's a good idea to watch for pots that might just be available for sale. What this means is that all the players in the hand have pretty much given up on their chance of winning the hand. They haven't made a pair, there are over cards on the board, or perhaps they have Ace King suited and there's junk on the board.
In any case, they may have even clicked the auto check/fold button on their screen. When the auto check/fold button is clicked, your opponent has told the poker software that they want to fold their hand in the case of any bet, even the minimum bet. If you're holding lower cards, perhaps in a blind position for instance, the only way you have to win this pot is to bet it.
